Who we are

About Ascend Africa

Ascend Africa is a youth-led nonprofit on a mission to transform financial education for young people across the continent. Founded in Kenya, we bridge the gap between classroom learning and the real-world financial skills young Africans need to thrive. Through workshops, digital content, mentorship, and enterprise training, we simplify practical topics like budgeting, saving, investing, mobile money, fintech, risk management, and business building.

The gap

Too many young people leave school without practical financial skills.

Students may learn academic concepts, but many are not taught how to budget, save, invest, borrow responsibly, assess risk, build a venture, or navigate digital finance with confidence. Ascend Africa exists to make those skills practical, accessible, and relevant to real decisions.

What we do

Two focused pillars for practical learning and enterprise growth.

Ascend Africa is designed around clear, usable programs that schools, youth institutions, and partners can understand quickly.

Incubator

Launching the Ascend Incubator

Ascend Africa is developing an incubator model to support young entrepreneurs and under-resourced small business owners. Through training, mentorship, digital tools, and practical consulting, our pilot goal is to help selected early-stage ventures become more structured, sustainable, and growth-ready.

Our first pilot will focus on supporting three businesses or entrepreneurs with hands-on guidance, business improvement support, and practical financial management training.

Our initial goals

Focused goals before public impact claims.

2

Build digital-first financial education resources

3

4

Why it matters

Financial literacy is not a privilege. It is a foundation for opportunity.

In a rapidly digitizing world, young Africans should not just participate in the future of finance. They should help lead it. Practical financial education gives young people the confidence to make better choices, build stronger ventures, and shape the economies around them.
